McNiff’s restaurant is my favorite soup & sandwich spot for lunch and in fact, I really enjoy the bacon and potato soup when its chilly out. It’s thick like a chowder! The architecture is absolutely beautiful inside; the restaurant is located in the historical Mahanoy City in the Poconos region in northeastern Pennsylvania.
So much to see in the sleepy town and the cozy eatery is centrally located; it’s just down the street from US interstate 81, a Mainstay Hotel, a Victorian style bed & breakfast nearby as well as, the Mountainview Golf course.
There are so many hip happenings to explore in this rural area. Just 20 minutes east, there is the historical town of Jim Thorpe where you can go vintage shopping, white water rafting and hiking. Who was Jim Thorpe? A native American who was an Olympiad! Did I mention the mountain ski resorts, NASCAR Poconos Raceway and casinos are minutes away from both towns?
I encourage you to enjoy your life and live it to the fullest. In the USA, we don’t enjoy time away from work lile Europeans and South Americans. We stress ourselves by juggling work, kids and some of us have to care for our parents. That’s all fantastic but, do more for yourselves. Enjoy the fresh air, one of the freedoms that we still enjoy.
Take your family on a month long excursion throughout the countryside and just explore! From NYC, it’s a 90 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minute drive, west on US interstate 80!
